Underskinning advantage or not

In my experience, it was not too bad a job but I'm a little smaller than average so it wasn't bad working under the boat. The improvement in speed and sound was noticeable, but not great. Maybe1-2 MPH at most. .... I did it while I was still enthused about the "new" boat. I likely wouldn't do it again.

For me, it would be about the necessity of getting that last mph or 2 out of a boat that was already running 15mph+

If you feel the need at that point, go for it.

If you're not getting to speeds close to 15mph, I don't think skinning will help a thing.

Depends, if you are running a 10 horse engine and never go over 10 mph no.

If you are running a bigger engine and run faster then yes, it will get rid of surging, water hits the cross members under the deck and makes the boat slow down.
