I bought an older Gruman Pontoon with an aluminum hard top. I have a dumb question. I am concerned on how to raise and lower it, but how hard is it to manage because of the weight? Do I need some kind of a jack to do this or can it be done by hand? It looks like once I remove a couple of bolts it will drop forward and be almost impossible to raise back up.

I did mine 1 time by myself, since it sits on the railing it is very low like doing the mamba low

Wife helped next time, now...since the lake is only 15 min from home at 45mph, it is staying up, way too easy to hurt myself

no bridges or wires and it is under 12 feet tall

Disclaimer: This is/was my choice to keep it up, I have seen it go both ways

It's the bulk that makes it a struggle, not necessarily the weight. My wife helps me with ours on the rare occasions when it need to be raised or lowered. She's not very big and well into her 60's and can handle one end well enough to get the job done.
