Florida to Virgin Islands?????????

Has anyone out there ever made the trip from the east coast of Florida to the Virgin Islands? Is it possible....and comfortable....and safe...in a 44 ft. trawler? Would appreciate any and all input and advice. Am contemplating this trip and trying to get all my "ducks in a row". Thanks.

Dwain I checked the atlas last night. I seems a good and safe trip. From Nassau follow the outer islands of the Bahamas down to Turks and Cacos(renamed Providence now?, then the unprotected jump to Puerto Plata. After the Dom. Rep. I would travel the south coast of Puerto Rico to the Virgins. Do you have twin diesels, generators, and a 700 mile range?
