  • Destination: Thames River Norwich, CT?

Is this a very navigable river for my 15 foot Lund with a 40HP on it. I've taken it a few times down from Haverstraw Bay on the Hudson River and around the Statue of Liberty, but of course, not under the Verazanno Bridge out to the open ocean. I was planning on launching near the Norwich, CT area near the start of the Thames area and traveling (cruising) down towards it's mouth only going as far as New London and "not" out into the Long Island sound.
Maybe dine at a restaurant we can dock at and then head back.

Is this a pretty safe trip? I should have the river's topography and charts on my Navionics chip which covers the Northeast.
Thanks for any experience on the Thames River.
