  • Need Help finding info on old AeroCraft Aluminum boat!

Hello all, I am a new member on here and was hoping to get help finding some info on a little fishing boat I bought for my kids and I. it is a 12 foot Aluminum "AeroCraft" that I believe is from the 1960's. I have a serial number of "ZL 64394" but can't find much info at all about the manufacturer or what year this boat might be. Anyone know more info on this company? This boat was in pretty good shape, hoping to get it set up for weekend fishing trips to the local lake!

    Thanks!

I own a similar boat with ZL starting my serial number also. I'm guessing it's from about 1962.

My guess is based on this page.

    http://www.fiberglassics.com/library/Aerocraft

If you go to the 1962 brochure picture, page 9 and click on that image it'll show you the ZL series. The image is hard to tell, but there's a link under for a full resolution image. Or here's that link

That's about the best I could come up with on mine. Hope it helps and I hope you and your kids enjoy it. I got mine for the same reason.

I've been collecting AeroCraft info and photos at
      http://www.ultimate.com/aerocraft-boats/

The "L" suffix on models was an early sixties thing to signify the "lapstrake" lines in the hull.
The model list I've put together
http://www.ultimate.com/aerocraft-bo..._by_model.html shows that 1961 is the first time I have record of "ZL" being used, and that by 1964 the "Z" was lapstraked.

      Craiger9er, what's your serial number?

64394 is a big jump from the serial numbers I have for boats made in the late 50's or 1960.
I've never been sure if they used one serial number series for all boats or not.

I'm always looking for serial numbers and photos. You can fill out the form at
      http://www.ultimate.com/cgi-bin/aerocraft.cgi
to send me info about your boats!

Thanks everyone for the info!! This is a great site!

Silver_Bay - I would definitely like to add some pics of my boat to your website, what is the best way to do this? I see you already have a link to my first post so should I add a pictures to this thread?

          Thanks again!

Yeah, If you add pictures here, I'll find them (sooner or later).

You can also fill in the form on my site I mentioned above. Put in the serial number and I'll figure it out.
The site started small, and I've been rolling my own software as I go, something I'm sure to regret more and more!
