Currently my Tahoe Q4 has the factory 9" fixed length seat with the 9" base pedestal.

I'm looking to switch it with an adjustable one of 18"-23" of the same brand.

My question is there's a difference with the friction lock vs. pin lock and whether the 40 dollar difference is worth it? or if any one have had experience with the friction lock giving in when sitting underway at speed.

I want to do this once as I'd imagine me marine tex'ing the old holes then retap them again for the new seat base.

I had the same dilemma and went with the non pin lock version. If I could do it over I would get the locking pin option for the helm seat. Takes a lot of force to keep the seat from dropping in rough water.

In the end I found I don't use the height adjustment much at all but nice to have. The Garelick are very good quality.
