CB Radio vs Marine Radio

Typically, a CB radio range will be 1-2 miles and its power is around 4W. A fixed mount vhf radio with an antenna placed at the highest possible point on a vessel, can work up to 20-25 miles. And the power rating is 25W. At that's besides all the other features a vhf marine radio offers (DSC, waterproofing, AIS receiver etc)

We have cruised on our sailboat for decades. Their are quite a few cruisers that have ham radios on board.....with that massive antenna mount also known as a mast it makes sense. Never heard of a CB radio on a boat.
