Can anyone suggest a way to attach a mooring buoy in a sandy bottom lake? Concrete? I guess we are looking for the easiest way possible! Thanks!

Your safest and best bet would be to get a mooring anchor. They are made specific for what you are doing. You can find them at West Marine as well as other marine centers and they start at around $60.

Thanks for the suggestion... next, any idea how these are installed? And, what size we would need for an average-size speed or pontoon boat?

If you are talking about installing a mooring and leaving it in the lake, best to contact local harbor master, or if smaller lake, the Sherriff.<br />Moorings are restricted in their use and location. You can't just plop one in anywhere, as it will be deemed an navigation hazard, unless placed in a designated mooring area.

Thanks for the heads up... although, the area we wish to place this mooring is in fairly shallow water, fairly near the shore. It is quite common to see moorings around Mullett Lake (Cheboygan, MI), and it shouldn't be a concern. We will take your advice though, and check with the proper authorities before the install. Thanks!

If it is too heavy to move safely or without damaging your boat, then hire someone with a work boat to install it.

If it's in shallow water why not use something you could skrew down level or below lake bottom then chain to bouy.
