Hull design question

Went out with a buddy in his new (used) boat. The boat has what the manufacture calls a "sequential lift" hull. The boat does not have trim of any sort but amazingly the boats attitude at all speeds seemed to be just about what I would expect to see with trim tabs.

Can anyone enlighten me on this type of hull? Are there any draw backs to it? The positives seem pretty self evident.

Re: Hull design question

Examine the hull lines in profile and you will see a subtle hook. Which does help keep the bow down. And perform well with less power. Unfortunately many, many boaters assume hook is always a defect. Not true, it can be beneficial, and is designed into some hulls. Though the designed in version will not look exactly like the popular idea of what hook is thought to be. Different priorities for different brands.

Of course there are drawbacks, or everybody would have copied this. Kind of the same drawback as if you left your tabs slightly down at all times. Not optimum at high speeds.
