  • Registering boat in North Carolina

My dad bought a old Jon boat he put it on trailer and added a 6 hp outboard on problem is there’s no numbers on the boat anywhere no tags no stamps or marking it’s made of aluminum 12’ long. Is there a way to register this thing

That's something to ask your State. Here in TN, a bill of sale will do the trick to register a boat. But the bill of sale has to include a Hull Identification Number (HIN), wether it appears on the boat or not.

If you didn't get any paperwork from the seller on the boat, then the State will have to tell you how to go about getting things organized. In some states, you can't.

    Welcome aboard.

Any of your local stores that sell fishing licenses also probably register boats. They usually are very easy to deal with and can help you register the boat.
