looking to pinpoint a year of a 16' J Craft that I'm looking at buying. I haven't inspected the boat yet but I'm looking for info I can gain before looking at it this weekend. I'm in the snowy part of the continent, so a water test is out of the question at this time. It's had a recent paint job, so I'm going in eyes wide open. The seller has said the motor is a 115 Merc, but from the pics, it looks more like a 93', Merc logo bi- sected by a red stripe over a light blue stripe over a grey stripe. Any insight, greatly appreciated. McMac,

If it's 1972 or later, the last two digits of the HIN are the year.
