You start out with a "family boat". In other words, kind of something "average" that you can do lots of things with.
Then we started camping. A little tinny worked well to carry the tent and all the gear since the big boat was bigger than I wanted to trail. It also served as a good fishing boat for small water where the big boat couldn't go.
Then the son got old enough and wanted to buy a jetski. But he could only afford a used one. Yeah, right used jetskis are a crapshoot. So we went in halfers on a new one as long as we could use it sometimes too. Problem was Mom liked kit too much so we bought a better one and gave the son his half interest.
A deal came along on a classic woodie. Now how could you turn that down. Just like Dad had when he courted Mom.
Finally retirement, so why not buy a REAL fishing boat with that useless 401K.
Well, the dingy was only $25 and is used in the pond, so that doesn't really count.
