Looking at buying a 01-02 Formula 292 fastech. What should I look for and what would be some concerns? I know the usual tap tests and motor mount bolts, and test drive. What else would you guys recommend?

The 292 Fastec came out in 2002. The 312 was 2001 & 2002.

The stringers and cross members are a fiberglass grid that is bonded to the hull and then filled with foam, FastecGrid.png

The engine mount stringers and engine mounts are different than most boats, but more common of a Go-Fast boat. Thru-bolts rather than lag bolts.

Check to see if there is moisture in the hull in the area of the engine compartment and under the fuel tank. This can probably be done with a moisture meter or an IR camera. If the boat is kept on a trailer, this will be easier, than if the boat is hauled out only for a survey, as the hull will not have the chance to 'dry' off.

You want the K-plane trim tabs and hydraulic steering w/ the outdrive tie-rod.

You will want mechanical trim indicators for both the outdrives and the trim tabs.

Make sure the engines make their spec'd RPM and that the boat goes wicked fast.

See if any bikini clad women come with it. :D
