It's my birthday and I am buying myself a rod and reel combo for offshore fishing in the Florida Keys. I was recommended the Tiagra reels. Which reel is necessary the 50 or the 80? I fish for Dolphin, Wahoo, tuna, sailfish, but you never know if that Marlin may take a bite way out there in the gulfstream. Is the 50 capable of handling sailfish and marlin? What rod would you recommend with either reel?
Thanks a bunch,
Elena

I would go with the 80 if you're going after big game fish like Marlin, the 50 would do just about everything else, also check out Shimano's Tallus rods I've been happy with them.

I would see the difference as being one is a 5 lb (wt) reel, as the other is an 8 lb. Big reel, bigger rod, lots of weight to handle. That 50 may suit you just fine for the majority of fishing you may do off the keys..
anywho, that's a great present..wish I could give myself one!! :)
