I go to 200 acre lake that does not have a lot of shad. Every calm morning or evening for a period of 2-3 hours, the largemouth will school in the middle of the lake and chase the minnows to the surface, shredding them like white bass would. We just sit back and when you see a swirly (sp?)cast a PoppR, skitterbug, hula popper, or repala to the swirl and jig it a couple of times. 4 out of 5 times they will hit it. Most of the fish are in the 12-14" range, with a few up to 18". A few week ago I took my two young sons out and they boated and released 32 bass in a little under two hours. When you see a swirly, don't automatically assume it is white bass or bluegill! Thow a popper at it.
