And owning two myself I've found it a bit of a learning curve, but once you get it the options are really helpful. I always use bottom lock on, but the speed and sensitivity are crucial to tweak, as one doesn't need the power at 30 ft that you would at 500. Speed generally on fast, even if sitting or back-trolling, as it seems to add much more detail. You can actually see fish come and go from the picture. It's amazing how far these units have come.
Like previously stated, Youtube has many helpful videos on tweaking, but the manual also goes into good detail. You will like it once you get it figured out.
