2 stroke 90 yammie only running 4200 rpms on a 16' skeeter bass boat. When I try to trim up, to increase RPMs, boat starts to porpoise so I have to trim back down. Motor purrs like a kitten, but think it should be purring more in the 5500 RPM range. Friend has an 85 yammie on his 16 footer and runs in the 5800's. any suggestions on this issue. Thanks.....

Check/adjust the trim rod in the motor bracket...they usually have 3 or 4 different sets of holes for adjustment that limits the trim....maybe previous owner had it adjusted wrong....good luck!...

My thoughts are you have the wrong prop or motor is not set at proper height or both
then there can be a problem with the hull of boat

Not much info was given
