So, I'm trying to pull a bent prop shaft out of a 1991 200hp Yamaha motor. I've got the bearing retainer out, and removed the shift shaft and the water pump assembly, but the prop shaft just won't come out. it'll come about 1/2 inch and stop. I can push it back in fine, and pull out 1/2 inch. am I missing something?

what are you calling the bearing retainer?

The bearing Housing(carrier) has the bearing and gear pressed onto them.
that housing needs to come out before the shaft can come out, or you can pull the shaft and housing at the same time

I have removed the bearing housing carrier. I did word that wrong. I have also removed the shift shaft. so you're saying the shaft should just pull right out?

looking at the parts breakdown I would say yes,
but I have never done one like yours
and I do not have a service manual for it either
I do not see what would hold it in.

Might need to use a slide hammer if it is bent bad. But as said before I have not had to try this before

well, I called the last technician that worked on it, and he had a great idea. flip it over on the other side.........popped right out!!! the shifter was just binding in the bore enough that it wouldn't slide out. Now, to get a good shaft and reassemble. thanks for bearing with me.
