Yamaha F115 cooling diagnostic question

I started my 2005 yamaha F115 on the trailer today using a flush plate. Cranked right up. No water coming out of the tell tale so I turned the engine off. I removed the foot and will install a impeller kit. Can I safely run water from a garden hose through the pick up tube while the foot is removed to ensure that there are not obstructions in the block. Should I remove the thermostat to try this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

Are you saying this is no longer a valid question and don't need an answer? Post #26 of which thread? You have me totally confused.

The question still stands. That comment was suppose to be on another thread, so I removed it. Sorry.

I would be careful but I am not really sure. Always do the safest thing.
