Ok, listen up can anyone offer some information or assistance with this motor. Started about two months ago, engine was running fine and smooth then would intermittently upon acceleration engine shut off and stalled. Then will turn over and not restart. Took to mechanic(one I trust), have already cleaned high pressure fuel pump, replaced filters in all injector pumps, replaced all fuel filters, and no contamination observed/witnessed. Water pump and thermostats replaced $$$$ water pressure while running is between 10-20lbs. Engine oil and filter serviced, as well as, lower unit. Upon leaving the mechanics this morning, he stated that he had ran it for an hour at the shop with no issues. We went three miles down the road, ran it around a lake for about ten minutes, full speed and shut it off, and started right back up. Then drove an hour and half home and put in the St Johns, we ran it full WOT for about thirty minutes and decided to try fishing for a bit. Shut it off, used the trolling motor for about fifteen minutes then was going to run to another spot. Took off and got onto a plane and then fail on its face, stalled and shut-off. Thank heavens we had the trolling motor to get us back to boat ramp. Drove twenty minutes home, hooked it up to the hose and it ran fine. Any ideas on what the heck is going on, dont trust this motor anymore. Purchased it brand new and never had any problems, kept up with all the regular scheduled maintenance. Please offer any ideas....dazed and confused

did you try pumping the primer bulb when it died and would not restart?

Intermittent problems are always a pain to resolve !

I agree in general with 99yam40, sounds like it is starving for fuel. The obvious place to check is the vacuum side of the lift fuel pump, but if pumping the bulb has no effect, you should be good.

I am not familiar with that specific engine, but the EFI system on it is almost identical to EFI and all modern cars and pickups. To rule out fuel completely, you need to verify "fuel rail pressure" next time this occurs. Most EFI system have a "port" (typically a Schrader valve) on the fuel line between the electric pump and the injectors where you can connect a fuel pressure gauge. You need to locate this port.

You don't necessarily have to have a fuel pressure gauge with you to verify proper operation. If you can somehow open the port (press the little center pin of the Schrader valve) while cranking, you should get a healthy squirt of fuel.

If not, the electric fuel pump is cutting out, the needle valve in the electric fuel pump chamber is stuck closed (not likely) or the lift pump has stopped working. Again, not that familiar with that specific engine, but many EFI systems use a fuel pressure regulator to insure a constant pressure between the intake manifold and the injector. This regulator "senses" intake manifold pressure and could generate incorrect fuel pressure.

Check fuel pump pressures when you accelerate and run at slow speeds.

Test boat's fuel system with clear fuel line temporarily installed on lift pump inlet and Tee in a vacuum gauge

test the check valve between the electric lift pump and VST

I had the same issue with my 200. And several others on the island all experienced the same. It happens after a couple of years running. Start and takeoff is fine and then 200m it just shuts down.
I went thru all the systems and found the problem.
There is a bushing midway down your drive shaft that has a sensor on it. When you don't flush the motor regularly, salt binds it up and it causes the issue.
Drop the leg and clean up the bushing and replace the sensor and you will be right.

Drop the leg and inspect the shaft. There is a bushing mid shaft. Clean it up and or change the sensor
