When you check the spark with the plugs out do you hold the HT lead? I have a very similar problem with a DT85, have been advised so many diffrent things. However when I was checking the spark I noticed a diffrent feel when holding the bottom two HT leads, the pulse was a lot weaker and could bearly be felt, the top one (The pot which fires) felt a lot stronger.
(Aquired two new coils and will be working on the motor this evening)
To see which cylinder is firing, start the motor then remove each plug lead in turn, if the engine note changes or it cuts out you know you have found a good one, if nothing happens to note or engine runs as befor, then you are not firing on this pot.
Have you had the motor in the water, did with mine and it would not go above 3-4 MPH
