I have a 2003 90hp 2 stroke yamaha and want to know how the electric primer works on the motor. I have been getting conflicting information on this system on this motor. When i push in the key swith for choke and turn the key there is 12volts at the switch and wiring harness at motor but there is no voltage at the electric primer solonid. Can someone please explain

Re: 2003 90hp 2 stroke yamaha electric primer

why push the choke switch?
its prime start, just like the operators manual says.
pump the fuel primer to fill the carbs and turn the key to start.
it starts or its broke.
the electrothermal valve is a heated wax pellet design and takes its power feed from the stator lighting coils on your 90.
doesnt click, squawk walk or talk. it just sits there and does its thing and failures are very rare.

follow the blue enrichment valve wire to the aft stbd side and you will see it plugs into a green bullet connector that is the lighting coil wires to the rectifier.
