300 HP Suzuki--for slow trolling?

I'm considering repowering with the new 300HP Suzuki but am concerned about its ability to slow troll (about 1000RPM) for extended periods. Will this slow running harm the engine or cause plug fouling and performance problems later? Any opinions on this engine would be appreciated.

I'm replacing twin 200Hp Johnson Oceanrunners and thought a single 300Hp might work and burn less fuel. Considered big Yamaha and maybe the big ETEC. What do you think?

i do not know if your transom can handle the Yamaha f350 V8.

lot of torque at one stress point on your transom instead of 2 X 200

call the boat manufacturer if they have information about it.

the zuki DF300 would be a good choise only you might loose some power.

if i had the money and it was posible i think i would check the F350 out.

if it was my boat and i would go a lot off shore i would want to have twins on my transom.
get the DF 200 or Df175

Thanks for the advice. I checked out the Suzuki 4-cyl. 175's: price to put a pair of them on my boat's Armstrong bracket, complete with gauges, controls, steering arm would be $27,500!!! I'd love to have them, but am suffering from sticker shock right now. Anybody want to buy a boat??

theres nothing wrong with keeping the johnyrudes.

there easy to fix very reliable and they make an lot of smoke and noise, millions of parts around, etc etc.

have they ever been rebuild or reringed?
might want to do a overhaul instead of buying new.
with this economy thats the trend lately.
