Carolina Skiff J 16 with Suzuki DF 15 - not planing with 2 people

I am running a 9 1/4 x 9 prop by my self I get 22 mph at 5900 rpm - put 2nd man in the boat I get 14 mph at 4800 tops and can not get on plane. I went to a 9 1/4 x 7 prop and by myself I get 17 mph at 6000 rpm, add 2nd man it drops to 12 mph and will not get up on plane at 5600 rpm. I ordered a 9 1/4 x 8 prop to see if it will help. Any sugestions less than installing a DF 30 HP motor ??? I like the boat and fish 75 % of the time alone but agrivating when I ask a partner to go along. Anybody playing with the DF 15 as far as hoping the engine up for more horsepower !!!! Looking for a little experienced help !!!! Thanks - Phil

You might try a hydroplane on your motor, Skiffmate, but a CS 16 is a lot of boat to plane with 15 hp, even alone.<br /><br />Good luck.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . . <br />JB
