I am having a problem with a motor I pout on my boat last week. The motor has been sitting for 3 years, I put new gas, new plugs, new gas filter, etc. The motor is sputtering. I spayed carb cleaner into the motor. That helped but still the motor will not open up all of the way there fore not going above 10 MPH. It starts to go then just sort of dies down. Would taking the carbrators off and cleaning them be the solution? any advice would be helpful..

I would clean the carbs, and I would squeeze the primer bulb on the tank while running, if it picks up then suspect fuel pump.
-John

Also, if its fine for a minute then dies down check to make sure fuel tank fittings arnt leaking air. A friends 80 hp Merc did the same thing, ran fine below 1/2 throttle then punch it and it would go then die, fuel fittins leaked air. Just a stab in the dark here.
-John
