2012 yamaha 250hp 4 stroke alarm at WOT

I have a 2012 250hp 4 stroke Yamaha. when it first starts it runs great. It idles off the trailer to the dock, then gets under way great. After a couple of minutes i put it at WOT the the alarm goes on and the motor goes into protect mode. Turn the key off and back on the alarm goes off and it will start the whole process over again. Can anyone point me in the right direction please. When the problem started i replaced the water pump with brand new just in case.
