I want to get the extra 25 hp from this eng,
I have a 2004 vx200 and looking at the serv manual the compression ratio is greater on the 225 and the timing is two degrees less atdc. But the parts manual says they use the same heads and cdi box.
so whats up with that?I would shave the heads but not sure how much with today's gasoline.

I think you are misreading the parts catalogs. Easy to do.

The VX225TLRC uses a 66K-85540-01-00 CDI whereas the VX200TLRC uses a 66X-85540-01-00.

Same thing with the block. The VX225 uses a 66K prefix block whereas the VX200 uses a 66X prefix block.

The compression ratio for the VX200TLRC is 1-4 = 5.4:1 / 5, 6 = 5.2:1 wheras for the VX225TLRC it is 1-4 = 5.9:1 / 5, 6 = 5.7:1.
