I have a 95 150hp 2 smoke and the previous owner had mercury tach on the boat with no poles adjustment and the readings are way off, can someone tell me how many poles for my new tach? looking at my stator its has 8 identical windings and then 2 bigger winding that are black in color and are N and S from each other, the other 8 windings are the same in size and color which is the color of the factory coating on the stator. which leads me to think it will be 10 pole stator so 5P on the tach?
