Oil spilled out of one of my engines when I tilted them up today. I had added a quart five days ago because it looked low on the dip stick.

is it possible I had added too much oil and it is being pushed out?

could it be a bad speedy sleeve?

Whats a "F225"

Yamaha 225 4-stroke not a Mercruiser.

Drop it back down see where it is on the dipstick. Why do you think it could be a bad speedi-sleeve?

Make sure you follow the proper procedure when checking oil levels.
need to allow the proper time for the oil to drain into the sump along with the tilting up and back down and pull the stick out whipe it and place back in then check what the stick says.
you have owned these motors long enough, you should know how to check oil levels
and never fill to above 1/2 way on the stick hash marks

Re: '04 Yamaha 225 4-stroke Fuel/ Oil Leaking From Motor

My 4 strokes have also leaked ( oil only ) into the transom when the engines are fully raised. The dealer and manuf. could not offer any advice.

I have found that if I leave the oil level 3/4 to 1/2 qt low this does not happen. Maybe your port engine oil level is low and that is why it is not leaking ?? Try it.....good luck

Hope he is right!
