yamaha 200 paint damaged, corrosion

any body can tell me what happened to my engine paint, look like it is corrosion or any case? using hours 500hrs

That area is warm when running.------May just be deposits from water that has evaporated.----See if it washes / scrubs off.

My Mercury 175 EFI did the same thing. It was deposits from evaporated water. Due to the heat of the exhaust through the mid-section.

Wipe it with a rag soaked in a mild acid like vinegar or lemon juice to try to dissolve it....if it's mineral deposits. In any event it shouldn't be too hard to sand the area, prime and paint. I use Advance Auto "Gunmetal Grey" in a spray can and it's a pretty good match for the Yamah Grey/Blue
