2008 Yamaha 50 tach hook up

Hi guys,
I'm trying to hook this Yammy to my old tach to see if it's still work. The needle in the tach does not rest back to zero so i don't know if that is an indication of death or not. I also read that i need to know the number of pulses on my ignition system in order to set my tach so it can operate correctly. Can someone tell me what is the number of pulse on a 2008 Yamaha 50LRL. Thanks

Did you give the tach 12 + power and a ground to see if it will zero?
the older up to 2008 50 were 6 pole


hold on is that a F50 or a 2 stroke?

It's a 2 stoke, I'll try to give it some juice tonight to see if it's zero for me. If it doesn't zero, is it meant that the tach is no good?
