HPDI / Remote tank issue?

This may be normal but I am not sure. I had an oil pump fail on my remote tank. I have since replaced it and it is now functioning.

However, the remote tank oil pump only runs when the engine is running. If the key switch is on without the motor running the remote oil tank pump will not operate.

Is this normal?

drain the tank on the motor, and then turn the key to the on position.
it should run and fill the tank back up in less than 180 seconds I think

For the automatic oil transfer system to be functioning the motor has to be running. With one exception, that being the initial fill mode. Main tank is empty and remote tank is full. Turn the key and the pump will come on and run. As described by 99yam above.

For the manual transfer system (toggle switch) to be functioning only the key switch has to be in the ON position.
