Fuel Water Separator Mount/Housing

Finally gonna install a fuel water separator on my boat. I was just wondering if the filter mount/housing is universal with other filters? The one I bought is an Attwood from Walmart.

Nope....there are at least three thread sizes that I know of.

Mercury, OMC and metric

The Walmart-Atwood filter cartridges at about $8 each are cheap enough to buy a couple of spares. I run one of these on my boat and cartridges are good for a couple of years at least....just unscrew it, dump contents in a clean container for inspection...screw it back on. These filters are really great preventive maintenance!

Ok, so you're pleased with the quality of the Attwood filter. I'm always sketchy when a product is from walmart.

The Atwood unit is aluminum body, so if you're in saltwater a lot maybe spray some black paint on it to protect from salt.....otherwise unit is fine.
