Approx 2 months ago my port motor would not trim up, then it started working and has for 2 months. a few days ago I was changing oil and realized that it would not trim up. It will trim down. I can trim the stbd up and down with the port throttle trim button (its the master when I choose synchronous trim). I started reading diagrams and doing research. I starting tracing wires. There are a pair of wires (blue and red) that come off the ptt relay assembly. The blue is for up, the red, is down. I can actually raise the motor up by jumping the red to the blue wire (using the down button on the cowling control). Its as if the blue has no "power". I spoke to two mechanics who said it is most likely the relay. I changed the PTT relay assembly as suggested and have not fixed the problem. I'm lost at this point. Is the problem on the motor? Throttle control? Corroded wire? Need some advice.
