Hi, I recently pulled out the bearing carrier off my 88 Yamaha 8hp model 8SG to check seals and whatnot. When I did this it was kinda stuck and the “shift plunger” flew out when it finally gave. It is the small metal pin that has a round end and a flat end that goes into the shaft. I’m wondering which way it was in there? Round end towards prop? Or round end towards the shift rod?
Heres the schematics http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Outboard/1988/8SG/LOWER DRIVE 1/parts.html
it is part #50 I can’t really tell from this please help me out. Thanks!
