Hello,
I have twin 2003 Yamaha 150's HPDI..
Recently ran boat about 40 mile on a trip. Ran Great. I get back to the ramp, Just powering motors to load on trailer, and I notice oil smoke... turn to look to see my Port Engine blowing lots of oil smoke out the exhaust. I turn off since im on the trailer.

About a hour later, when cleaning the boat at home, I hook up the ear muffs. Crank the engine in idle, and just shortly the smoke starts coming out again very much. Engine seems to be running fine, but, I shut off. Makes me thing the auto mix of the gas and oil is somehow putting in alot more oil than it should for some reason. Its LOTS of smoke.

Any ideas?

The oil pump is connected to the throttle by a link rod. The link rod is held in place by a plastic clip. The clip is known to get brittle with age and break. In which case the oil pump will default to the maximum oiling position. I would check the link rod.

Thank you for your response...
Hummm

not sure what to look for.... is there a photo or schmatic somewhere I could view you might know about? Or I can go take the cowling off and take some photos where you could point it out to me..

Only oil pump and filter I know about is on the bottom of the tank where I put my 2cyl oil in thats pumped to the motor.... Im thinking your saying to check for a linkage on the motor itself somewhere

Blue is normally oil, white is normally steam, not that it's always that way, just most of the time.

How do you know it's not steam?

thank you boscoe, I will....

I found the plastic clip on the end of that throttle rod.. Plastic clip seems to be working properly... not broken
looked at all the hoses going into the pump and all looked good and connected....
