I have tried searching the forums but I didn't really find any solutions. It seems most people with ignition problems have both the key switch and kill switch not work at the same time.

This problem just started out of nowhere. Sometimes if I play with the key switch 3-4 times I can get it to shut off without pulling the kill switch. Engine starts perfectly fine. Could anyone possibly point me in the right direction? Thanks.

I think you answered your own question. The ignition switch is bad.

I only have wiring diagrams to 2003 but if yours is the same the white wire at the ignition switch goes to the CDI unit and the black wire goes to the engine ground. When the key is turned off, the switch connects these two wires together, So if you jump the white wire to the black wire the engine should shut down. If it doesn't you need to find out which wire isn't connected to the engine.
