Hello! So, i am in the process of repairing an old DT100. Had to replace the cdi and bought a used one. It turns out there are two differences between mine (1990 model) and the newer unit i bought. Any input on this is much appreciated!

1. The number of pulsar coils has been reduced from 4 to 2. Not sure if i can just leave two of mine unconnected or not. If they are located at the same position, i guess so

2. A new coil is added to the stator/magneto. According to a service manual i found, it is called "power source" coil, and should output 11-12 volts when read with a peak (dva) meter.. i am thinking the CDI unit might be powered by this voltage and not from the battery itself, and i wish i knew the internals of the CDI then maybe this can be connected to another 12v source instead.

Anyone here have experience with anything like this?

My thoughts are it would be best to find the proper CDI for your motor
