I own a 2011 Yamaha 50 outboard
I recently just changed out my water pump. Everything worked great for about an hour but when we started idling, the motor began to over heat. Im confused because water is coming out the tell tale with great pressure, but the water coming out is scalding hot! I checked the thermostat and it appears to be working fine. any ideas.... Pleas help

do you boat in salt water? if so, your probably dealing with sediment inside the motor restriting water flow.

When you put it back together are you positive that the watertube is lined up correctly to the pump housing. At what temp is the thermostat opening.
