Volvo Penta 280 re power

Howdy!

I have a 1982 Galaxy 18 powered with an AQ145b mated to an AQ280 sterndrive. Motor is frozen and I was considering re powering with a PCM 305 I happen to have sitting in my garage. I know I'll need a new flywheel cover, a 1.61 lower unit, and a Y exhaust port. What else should I consider besides motor mounts and a new prop?

Im not a expert but i almost stayed at a holiday in last night:yo:

So a 4cyl and 6cyl Transom shield is different then a V8
A 4cyl/6cyl has 1 exhaust relief port and a V8 has 2 exhaust relief ports.
Mine is a v8 with 2 ports.
All 280 transom shields will work with any engine with the proper adapter as far as i know.
I do not however know how your single exhaust relief transom shield will work with a V8 and for all i know V8's may have came with single relief ones also.

Just wanted to point out that difference.
Probably need Exhaust Manifolds/Risers, Flywheel, Coupler, Motor mounts, Starter, V8 raw water pump, Marine V8 Carb,
Just a few things i can think of with out going to to much work

Besides what Pat added the motor mounts and wiring harness.
