My 2005 Volvo Penta 4.3GL-D takes 21513423 Volvo Penta Spark Plugs.

Who makes Volvo Penta Spark Plugs?

Where can I find the crossover to buy NGK or ACDELCO?

Volvo Penta 21513423 is $65.00 for 6 Plugs! OUCH!

For some reason, Volvo only uses champions. Why very few buy Volvo plugs anymore.

You need either the OEM GM plug AC-MR43LTS or the NGK-BPR6EFS plug.
.045 gap.

Thank you so much! Would the NGK TR6IX work for my engine and if so, what gap? I see VOLVO recommends .060 Gap for the 21513423

I don't know what Volvo info you are reading, but it's not for a GL engine. The only engines using .060 gap are fuel injected. Carbed are .045.

I gave you the NGK numbers, and it's not TR55IX

Oh, when I looked up my 2005 GL-D engine on Iboats volvo store, it had a picture that said .060 gap. The NGK number you gave me .
BPR6EFS crosses over to the IRIDIUM IX version of TR6IX

Do you think the Iridium NGK's TR6IX would be a good choice?

From the OEM service manual.

Quite honestly, on a carbed engine your wasting your time with those Iridium plugs. They won't run any better than the AC or NGK I posted, and they are only $3 each.
The problem with marine engines is setting and being winterized and fogged damaging the plugs more than lots of use.

Of you want to use the TX plugs and gap them at 60, go for it.

Re: 21513423 Spark Plugs

I installed the new plugs today, gapped them to .045 and replaced the ignition wires, cap and rotor. Replaced fuel filter and then went to replace impeller.

I noticed the engine sticker on front of the motor. Says Spark plug gap .060 !!!

So, I had to remove all the plugs again and regap them to .060.

I guess the volvo penta diagram is correct. odd.

One other question, when I installed the new fuel filter, do I need to pre-fill it with fuel?

My engine is a 2005 Volvo Penta 4.3GL-D carburetor on it,, sticker on engine says spark plug 3851632 gap .060 +/- .002 in
owners manual says volvo penta PN 3858997 GAP 0.060 ( 1.50 mm )
just bought this boat and the plugs in it are ones you mentioned AC Delco MR43LTS - I pulled these plugs and checked the gaps 4 had .030 and 2 had .025. I am wanting to change the plugs to OEM recommendations but cant find either of the volvo part numbers just found a kit PN # 21513423, will look into the NGK-BPR6EFS

Don will not answer your question. Why don't you start a new thread instead of posting in one that has been inactive for almost 7 years?
