I have a 19.6ft Cuddy cabin that I am looking to repower with a diesel, initially looking at the 1.7l mercruiser, however I can get a good deal on a complete AQAD30 pullout with 1200 hours. I will have it thoroughly checked out prior to purchasing or install, but I want to make sure there are no major problems with this engine. I am looking to get around 5mpg, cruising speed of 22 knots, and maybe a max speed of 28+knotts. Will I get that from this engine in a 3500lb (full loaded) boat? Any word on reliability? and how many hours I can expect to see from it? The entire install + engine will cost me around $5-$6k, a far cry from the $18k to get the 1.7 in there.

James

So are you saying that repowering with a 3.0 gas would be better than the diesel? and are you really getting 5mpg? I guess I should have clarified the AQAD is a duoprop 1988 and the boat will be used in the salt 90% of the time.

Damn, think you can get the performance you expect from a heavy 110 c.u. diesel? Why a diesel? You are talking about quite an investment. Please do your homework before you commit. Just my view. fred
