  • What was Volvo thinking when they wrote this manual???

I know that removing and installing the trim sender wires through the transom can be a major pain, but when I was reading through the Volvo manual (thanks for the link Don!), I found some instructions that seem ambiguous.
How do I interpret the text next to the red arrow in the picture?

Conversions to English from Swedish aren't allways perfect. I agree with you, they should have been more specific, say Jack Daniels, or your favorite scotch, etc!

The rubber plug on the end of the wires inside the boat will not fit through the hole in the transom shield (at least they used to not fit, may have changed now), so you must remove the wires from the plug using the special tools. When you put the new sender in, you have to put the new wires inside the plug. Using alcohol makes the job easier, especially if you don't have the tool and are trying to push it in with a very small screwdriver.

Thanks for the explanation Don, but I still don't know what alcohol to use.
My bet is Absolut Swedish Vodka (VP #3851234), but to paraphrase Bond-o, "Any alcohol is better than no alcohol at all" :-)
