I have an 18' Glastron with a Volo Penta 175 3.0. When the engine is in neutral and running wide open, I have a serious vibration that sound like it is under the boat. When I turn the steering wheel either direction, the vibration gets worst. I can raise the trim a little and the vibration goes away until I turn. Could it be the prop? Please help!! Make mechanic education is, well, None. Any suggestions?

Why in the world are you running your engine at wide open in neutral? All kinds of bad things happen in that situation.

Try it under load (in the water, in gear). Most Volvo’s use a vibration damper bolted to the fly wheel. This is a plate with a spring loaded coupler in the middle of it. With no load on the springs they tend to bounce around in the damper and make a rattling noise (like a spoon banging on a pie tin).

hondon, I think he meant 'in neutral or wide open' (not and). My SeaRay had a vibration too although it wasn't what I'd call bad but rather noticeable, it was the u-joints.
