I am looking at a boat to buy that has a Volvo/Penta 3.0GL. The owner says he had one cylinder sleeved last year? I don't know anything about these motors or this process and if being sleeved is a bad thing that could cost me some bucks in the near future. All of your input would be greatly appreciated! HP, reliability, etc....

Thank You,
Toby

Re: Volvo Penta 3.0GL...Sleeved?

It's a common repair practice, Most Machineshops do them all the time....
The cylinder is over bored,+ a New cylinder is fit into the hole, to bring everything back to spec.s.... It Shouldn't Ever bother....
Go ahead and buy the boat...
