Volvo used 4-cyl engine blocks from the Volvo cars from the sixties through the eighties with volumes from 1.8 litres to 2.5 litres, rated from 90 hp to 165 hp, the most common are 120 hp or 150 hp. That's still a pretty high output for these small engines.<br /><br />Recently VP is using 3.0 litre 4-cyl GM engines rated 135 hp (propshaft power). There is probably some potential for improving that. Actually its on a late '70s early '80s Glastron that I will be buying. I am getting it for $500. It is a two owner boat that was used for 6 years and then in storage ever since. The seller took me on a sea trial and it runs and handles very good. With a little scrubbing and polishing I can have the boat looking like new.
