Occasionally, my engine won't start with a single click heard when turning the key. Battery, terminals, wires are fine. I thought this might point to the starter solenoid.

However, it looks like the solenoid is part of the starter with no clear way to remove it without removing the starter. I don't want to remove the starter, just to get to the solenoid, and hopefully I don't have to buy both as a package. The VP workshop manual isn't clear here. It only talks about removing the starter.

Does anyone have experience removing/replacing just the solenoid from a VP 1999 4.3L GL PTWR?

Thx.

Just ordered one from DB for a 2003 Volvo Penta 4.3L GXI/SX and it cost $51.00 with free shipping. By the way the Starter and solenoid come together. They should be able to help you figure out what Starter or Alternator you need. They also come with a one year warrenty.
