Starter solenoid removal? - volvo 4.3 GL

Occasionally, my engine won't start with a single click heard when turning the key. Battery, terminals, wires are fine. I thought this might point to the starter solenoid.

However, it looks like the solenoid is part of the starter with no clear way to remove it without removing the starter. I don't want to remove the starter, just to get to the solenoid, and hopefully I don't have to buy both as a package. The VP workshop manual isn't clear here. It only talks about removing the starter.

Does anyone have experience removing/replacing just the solenoid from a VP 1999 4.3L GL PTWR?

I have had the same issue. I searched the web for replacement starter, dealer prices are around 399.00 Then I found an ad on ebay and DB Electrical has its own website so you do not need to go to ebay. You can get a new starter with mounting bolts for about 60 bucks! Here is the link, good luck.
