Hello

Not sure if this is the right spot for this topic.

I am trying to find replacement part (Fuel level sensor) for my boat - 1998 Sunbird 170 with Volvo Penta 3.0.
Not sure what is the correct part to order.
The gauge is stuck on full, I ran new wires from the sensor to the gauge and still no luck. So assuming its sensor now.

thanks,
Shailesh

Howdy
Disconnect the sender wire and with key ON the gauge should show Empty. Ground the sender wire the gauge shows Full

If gauge passes those test then its probably the sender

The North American standard is 240 (empty) to 33 (full) ohms

In a well ventilated area remove the sender and measure the tank depth. You want a sender 1 inch less then the depth. Once you have this info just search for fuel sender and it can be a tube or arm type

Thank you guys.
Did the test as suggested by Alldodge and concluded its sensor.
Took the sensor out of the tank (Was not as easy as I had thought due to the location of the back seat wall plywood not cut on top etc etc.

Measured the depth and its 5.5

Will be searching for tube reed switch for 4.5in sensor.

Thank you again.

Being that short (I'm use to at least 10 inch tank) 5 inch should work
