Going to be pulling my AQ125A hopefully tomorrow. I see a place for a hook towards the back of the motor. Where is everyone hooking a chain to on the front of the opposite side of the motor? I would think you couldnt hook the engine hoist directly to that bracket in the rear and lift it that way due to it being to unbalanced. Also is there a way to put this thing on an engine stand? Maybe after taking off the bellhousing?

Use a bit od chain from the bracket to a bolt in the front of the head

Yes, you need to pull the PDS housing to put the motor on a stand

Well its pulled! We gotter out of there. After I took the bell housing off I noticed the drive shaft has a lot of play. I am assuming there is bearings in there? I see it has a grease fitting for it on the top side of the outer bell housing for it and I assume they never greased it. I didn't really see any grease in or around the shaft. How do you change that bearing? Is it pressed in?

From the back end (away from the bell) there's a grease shield.
Then 2/3 snap ring, then the shaft and bearing should pull out.
It should have another grease shield.
Part#s 71-75

When you reassemble: make sure the grease zerk works.
The passage can get blocked by solidified grease.

Then fill the passage between the seals before you put the motor back in.

How about putting in new universals? I haven't had much luck with finding out how to get that out of the upper part of drive to change them. I have seen a youtube video of a guy changing one the furthest one out without disassembly of the housing, but I would like to look at possibly changing both.

Look in the dang stickies at the top of the forum and get a factory manual.

Depending on vintage of drive, you either need shims or a crush sleeve, along withe a new thrust washer. You will need the ability to read rolling torque

Find a Volvo repair shop and have them do it.
Are they bad?
They come with a grease zerk or a place for the zerk.
Fill them with marine grease and check for play??
You might be able to use what you have??
Get a Volvo service manual.
