Okay, replacing the seals on the upper gear case. I thought i would check the running torque before i took the bearing carrier apart. I show it at about 2.5 inch pounds. I was expecting more like 9 inch pounds. question is, do I set it back to 2.5 or do it like the book says at 9 inch pounds? would that change the gear lash? not sure how to fix that? Its a 2000 5.7GSI with the DP-SM drive.

Set used bearings at the low end of the range, so 9 to 10 in lbs
preload shouldn’t affect lash.
But 2.5 is kind of low, give the bearings a close inspection before reuse.
